My top 5 favourite Drugstore Foundations

Hey guys today I’m going to take you through my top 5 favourite drugstore foundations available in India. So finding the perfect base is the toughest job when it comes to makeup but once u figure it out you are kinda sorted for life✌🏻. My personal suggestion would be do not buy foundation online when you are trying the brand for the first time, all those exciting offers can be grabbed once you find your shade in an outlet. Another important thing you got to keep in mind is your undertone, so how to find to your undertone??? Let me help you with that

  • For cool undertones: This usually means your vein is likely to be blue, red or pink so choose a foundation with red, or blue base, and consider shades like cocoa, rose, sable, and porcelain.
  • For warm undertones: This means your skin is more golden, yellow, or peach so choose a foundation with a gold or yellow base, and consider shades like caramel, golden, tan, chestnut, and beige.
  • For neutral undertones: This is a combination of cool and warm undertones so consider shades like buff, nude, ivory, or praline.

Never swatch the foundation on your hand instead always go for ur jawline. The skin at your jawline will be truer to your natural undertone and give you an idea of how the foundation will look against your neck. I guess you would have got an idea of how to choose the perfect shade so if you are interested to find out what foundation you need then keep on reading…..

Note: I have ranked the foundation from my least favourite to my top favourite😄

5.Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Foundation.

This was the first ever foundation that I bought for personal use. This is not a high coverage foundation and is perfect for everyday use. It is extremely lightweight and blends with the skin so easily. The packaging is also so pretty and very handy. It is suitable for oily and combination skin type. I would not suggest this for dry skin cause the product is in a mousse texture and further dries out the skin. It lasts for about 5-6 hours with minimal oxidation.
Price : INR 550

4.Wet n wild Photo focus foundation

This is a medium to high coverage foundation.
The foundation comes in a square glass bottle with a wand applicator which is acceptable for the price range. It has a nice thin consistency that glides so well on skin and blends effortlessly. I prefer using a beauty blender for this foundation rather than a brush. On my oily skin, it stays really long for around 7-8 hours without any creasing. The shade range is a bit of a disappointment here. Overall it is a good high coverage foundation that doesn’t feel too heavy.
Price: INR 599.

3.L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte 24-Hr Foundation

I think L’Oreal Paris makes some of the best drugstore foundations and this is one among them. The foundation comes in a flat plastic tube with a screw on cap. The tube feels really handy and is travel friendly. The tube has a see-through section to display the foundation’s color. This is a semi-matte, medium coverage, air-light foundation that lasts for around 8-9 hours and definitely not 24 hours that is just a gimmick to get your attention on the product 😋.Since it is a medium coverage you would definitely need a concealer to cover up any heavy skin imperfections.
Price: INR 750.

2.Maybelline Fit me Matte+ Poreless Foundation

If u are a beginner and you really want to invest in a foundation blindly then this is it. The best thing about this foundation is the shade range😍 Oh my god i cannot even explain how they finally broke all the stigma and came up with a shade for every skin tone. Also they have a site to find the right shade by analysing your skin type and skin tone. Another good thing is the price. It is so affordable and a little goes a long way. But the only con is the oxidation.I tried this product 2 years back ,at that time the product did not come with a pump but now it has a pump applicator which is a big thumbs up from me. At this price point what more would you want. My final thoughts is that this product is a boon for beginners.

1.Loreal true match super blendable foundation

This is my topmost favourite drugstore foundation. Let me tell you why I preferred this to be on the top and not the fit me one. Maybelline fit me oxidises after 5-6 hours and u might feel a little bit dull. But this is super blendable and does not oxidise at all even after 8-9 hours. The packaging is so handy and it also comes with a pump so you do not end up wasting the product. It comes in around 13 shades and I think they must bring in more shades. Also it is super light weight and gives medium to high coverage. Overall this does not dry out the skin and doesn’t appear to be cakey at all. The consistency is quite runny but you would only require one or two drop to cover your whole face and neck.
Price : INR 799.

So finally I would also like to tell ,you don’t actually need a foundation to look pretty. If you like makeup you can try out any of these products since they are quite affordable and also worth the price. Also if you have tried any of these products do let me know. Quick tip😋once you have figured out your shade don’t ever buy the foundation at MRP because makeup and skincare are always on sale. So utilise those sale and invest wisely😉.

Acne – Do’s and Dont’s

Hey guys today we are going to discuss about acne!! P.S.Im not a certified person to recommend medication, this blog is just to give you an idea on what to do and what not .. also things which worked for me might not work for you ,but there is nothing wrong in giving a try 😋

First identify what kind of acne you have , that one teeny tiny guy that pops out every month should not worry you it is completely normal. Mainly don’t try to prick your acne with your fingers … arghhhhh.. no don’t do it 🙅🏻‍♀️ I know it’s tempting but don’t do it. Secondly if you have harmonal imbalance or heavy cystic acne none of the DIY’s can help you ,very sorry immediately go consult a dermatologist and follow right instructions.
If a person has clear skin naturally it is basically because of good genes , so do not think the whole world looks prettier than you just because you have acne. Especially oily skin babies I know acne can be your next door notorious aunty who comes uninvited and never leaves at all🙊 just kidding

Eventhough u have mild acne do follow the CTM (Cleansing, Toning,Moisturising)procedure religiously .. Sometimes u might skip the toner but cleansing and moisturising is a must. Remember you need to eat clean , do not hog on oily foods and sugary stuff cause that is going to increase the acne. Try to consume more fruits and home cooked food atleast for a while until you start seeing changes on your skin.Drink plenty of water atleast 2.5 L to 3L. Don’t try to gulp down the water all at once definitely you are going to puke. Try to sip whenever your bored or while ufeel hungry. Eventually you will notice the increase in the intake of water.

My personal experience on acne :

I started getting acne very recently and i was literally frustrated. I started trying different products from different brands and nothing worked. One such product was salicylic acid, I know for most you guys it might have worked but for me it’s a big nooo🙅🏻‍♀️. It took me so long to figure out what actually worked for my skin. The main reason I started getting acne was because of the smoothening I did and those hair care products irritated my skin so much . So I switched to a different set of products for my hair and then tried out the licorice and nutmeg DIY. Also I used an ointment which had the key ingredient as clindamycin. These jus worked magic for my skin. I’ll attach the before and after pics below.

I’m a little bit embarrassed 🙊

The licorice just brightens ur face. I will do a detailed blog on what products I’m currently using cos since I have tackled my acne I have to improve the texture of my skin and prevent the blackheads. Now going to share a small DIY to improve the skin texture and also moisture in the skin.

  1. Take a handful of flax seeds and boil it for almost 20 mins
  2. Now u can see the water turn into gel lik consistency
  3. Strain out the flax seeds and cool it down
  4. Take a small amount of the flax seed gel and mix it with fresh aloe Vera gel or store bought aloe Vera gel
  5. Apply it all over your face and neck and remember to wash ur face beforehand.

Tadaa!!! hope u loved the DIY and do try it out and let me know ur comments 😊😊

Nykaa matte to last mini liquid lipsticks review

Hey guys today I am going to review nykaa matte to last mini liquid lipsticks. I own 5 shades and all these shades are my absolute favourite from this range and more importantly it suits almost all skin tones. So let’s get started with the review

Price: This product is priced at Rs 239 each for 1.2ml. It is available both in Nykaa online and Nykaa outlets as well.

Packaging: The outer packaging is so cute and helps with the identification of the shade. This comes in a transparent tube which allows us to see the colour from outside which is such an amazing quality in this. This lipstick is so handy and can be easily carried , Coming on to the applicator- it is a pointed one which allow us to apply the colour along the lip line and ensures proper application.

Formula:  This lipstick texture is so creamy and smooth. However it does dry out your lips after sometime so it is always better to apply a lip moisturiser or lip balm before applying any liquid lipstick. The colour pay off is so amazing with such a creamy matte finish. The consistency is thick which makes the lips appear fuller. It stays for almost 5-6 hours and is transfer proof!!

Swatches:

Chai: It is a brown nude shade perfect for Indian skin especially for dusky complexion. This rich, chocolate brown shade is sure to make you look like an international diva!..So if you are hesitant to buy a nude lipstick do not think twice this shade is such a boon for dusky to medium skin tone lovelies❤️

Madras kaapi : Oh my god my love towards this shade is impeccable. If anybody asks me which shade you would prefer to wear for the rest of your life it is obviously Madras kaapi. It is a perfect nude shade for medium to fair skin tone people. If you belong to the dusky complexion do not forget to use a brown lip liner so that it creates an ombré effect and doesn’t give a washed out look. This is one of the best sellers in this range and don’t forget to try it out especially if u like nude lipsticks❤️

Gul: The lipstick is not too viscous but it is highly pigmented. The shade is a cool toned light pink shade. It is quite bright and looks good on fair to medium skin tones. It might look too neon on dusky skin beauties❤️

Boho: Next to Madras kaapi this is my most favourite shade in this range . It is a subtle mauvey pink shade which suits all skin tone. It looks a bit different on my hand swatch like it is a Fuschia pink but trust me it is not❤️.

Maharani: This is a bright red lipstick. Basically I’m not a big fan of red lipstick as I never had the confidence to wear one . I would usually apply the lipstick, stare myself in the mirror for the next 10 mins and wipe it off. So if u really like red lipsticks go for this one. It is a perfect shade which u can wear to parties or events or to a wedding❤️

Overall, if you are looking for some comfortable soft matte kinda liquid lipsticks, then these Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipsticks will be your pick. I think their price point is okay for that quantity. With an easy-peasy packaging, affordable pricing and non drying formula, you can give these a try. I’d recommend you pick shades that you’re most comfortable in and try them rather than experimenting on totally new shades so you won’t get disappointed with them at the first go. They also have a big sized product for each shade in this range. So before jumping directly to the actual product u can give these mini a try, find out which shade suits u and then buy them.

Did you try these Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipsticks??? Which is your favorite shade? Lemme know……….

Hey guys… Let me tell u a story.. There was a girl who always had endless dreams in her head and one among them was to become a blogger like Ankita, Shreyajain,Debasree. If u know these names i guess u people  are obsessed with makeup and skincare. Yes this is KAVITHA SIVAKUMAR and I’m an aspiring beauty blogger. Not just beauty but also lot more fun and information awaits u in my upcoming blog.

Since this is my first post i want to introduce myself , like what kind of dumb stuff i do in my day to day life… jk  😉 I’m a 20 year old women from Chennai pursuing my engineering degree. After all doing something which we love makes us more happy and at the end of the day when we sleep we will be able to sleep with a feeling of achievement.

Let me tell you guys from where did i develop my interest for makeup and skincare.Cos makeup and skincare comes hand in hand . I see them as non identical twins cos they might look different but both these process enhances the way you look. In India especially in south India  makeup is something that most of the men lack to acquire knowledge about.
Makeup doesnt transform a person but enhances them and the way they look. It provides an inner confidence to a women. Imagine u are going to a restaurant and u see a lady with puffy eyes and no makeup(jus describing that she looks dull). Will it be appealing??? No right ..There are places where makeup plays a major role. Ofcourse makeup is loaded with chemicals… Yes it is.. U need protection against them and thus we pamper and take care of our skin with a skin care routine.

I guess i made my blog very clear . What is it all about and i hope u guys will take me through a long way…. Here and there i will share my day to day experiences. What have i gone through in life …So jus stay tuned lovelies…
